Stepping off the gondola at the top of the mountain for the first (or even hundredth) time can induce feelings of wonder and humility as the ridgelines of the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges extend back as far as the eye can see. As you stretch your legs around the mountain-top plaza, your mind begins to wander; “is this still the Canadian Rockies? What type of vegetation grows here? Do people really ski down that?” Embarking on a CPR ridge interpretive hike will answer all of your questions and more! Let our resident guide lead you along the ridge and provide you with an educational experience about the mountains and wondrous geography that surrounds you. The CPR ridge interpretive hike is a must-do to complete your Kicking Horse Mountain Resort adventure!

About your guide: Gary Jolivet has a passion for all things nature! Growing up, the interpretive guides at our Provincial and National parks left a lasting impression on Gary, in turn encouraging him to pass along his love and knowledge of our mountains through to the next generation. Today, he is truly living his dream of skiing in the winter and offering interpretive hikes throughout the summer. As a full-time ski instructor at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Gary has gained an extensive knowledge-base of these mountains and all they have to offer. Take a walk with him and you will learn how plants, animals and people adapt to life at 8000 ft.
