Orientation & Culture
Orientation and Training
All new and returning employees will attend a paid, company-wide orientation day at the start of the season where our President, Directors and Managers share our vision regarding the direction of the Resort and our commitment to both guests and employees. The Orientation is an opportunity to meet employees from other departments as well as get to know your Managers and those you will be working closely with.
You will also have departmental specific training, scheduled by your department Manager. Department training will include a Resort tour to familiarize new employees with the Resort and its many offerings. Training assists us in exceeding our guests’ and teams’ expectations, so it is required for all employees, including part-time staff.
Culture at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
Like the maverick horse that brands our Resort, we depend on the balance of all four legs to succeed. Our employees are one of those legs, representing one of our four Priorities of Focus. We respect each other’s individual values, but we also celebrate shared values across our organization. These values help guide our decisions:
Fresh: Fresh Adventure, Raising the Bar, Innovation, Differentiation
I innovate. I believe every day is a new opportunity to raise the bar on what we’ve accomplished before by finding new and better ways to do things. I celebrate creativity, new ideas, and the strength of our unique identity. I show a commitment to exceeding the expectations of every guest to our Resort.
Empowerment: Initiative, Accountability, Teamwork, Solutions Focus
I initiate. I believe in taking accountability for meeting my commitments and inspire others to do the same. I celebrate initiative and look not for the problems but for the solutions. I show a commitment to teamwork and fully engaging my efforts in our shared goals as a Resort.
Sustainability: Environment, Community Relationships, Respect, Future Vision
I envision. I believe that I play a key part in creating a healthy and safe company, community, and natural environment now and in the future. I celebrate respect for others, building strong relationships, and a focus on the big picture. I show a commitment to the long term growth and development of myself, my teammates, and the Resort.
Passion: Enthusiasm, Animation, Fun, Positivity
I excel. I believe that my animation, enthusiasm, and positive attitude make this a great place to visit or to work. I celebrate going the extra mile, and having fun doing it. I show a commitment to what we create for others as a Resort and am passionate about what I do.
