Golden, BC – The Dogtooth Dash will return to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort on March 21 – 23. From the racer’s mouths, The Dogtooth Dash is the most exciting, scenic and challenging event in the Ski Mo calendar, home of the national championships for the last 5 years and the only built in course taking place inside a controlled ski area.
Nested between five National Parks, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has been hosting Ski-Mo races for almost a decade, participating in discipline’s booming across North America – ski touring is definitely at the top of the mind for all outdoor enthusiasts who travel through the area. Kicking Horse has won numerous awards for its predominately advance terrain, tree skiing, alpine chutes, overall big mountain experience and backcountry feel.
“This is the pinnacle of Ski Mountaineering events in north America,” said Matt Mosteller, VP of Sales & Marketing, “Kicking Horse’s terrain, snow and steeps will test the best from around the world! Our team and the mountain community of Golden are proud to showcase our heritage,” he continued.
After 5 years of service and creating one a of a kind event, Ian Gale has passed on the torch to a new board of directors, composed of pro-racers, senior event marketers & mountain safety specialists.
Moving with the momentum of last year’s unique event gathering the best Canadian and US athletes, the 2014 race will embody similar course elements with the addition of further resort animation, attendance and media coverage.
The event will be sanctioned by the Alpine Club of Canada & the US Ski Mountaineering Association and will follow the IFSM ski touring race rules and regulations. The award winning Eagle’s Eye Restaurant, will be the focal point for the event, with a clover leaf course that will have athletes starting, finishing and looping through the top of the mountain during the race.
