Wrangle the Chute 2* Freeride World Qualifier
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is thrilled to introduce a new 2 stars Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ). To foster and support the local adult freeriding scene, this additional big mountain event will be held in the original Wrangle the Chute Venue, where it all started! Although anyone is welcome to enter, the event is dedicated to reveal the best local talents. The winner of each category will be invited to enter the 4* Wrangle the Chute, scheduled for March 24-27.

2016 IFSA Jeep Junior Freeski Series
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be the newest stop on the Jeep Junior Freeski Series on February 5-7th
– Presented by Rossignol and Smith Optics.
This event provides the opportunity for youth between the ages of 7 and 18 to develop and showcase their skiing skills in a fun and supportive environment. The Jeep Junior Freeski Series is the only one of its kind in Canada and part of Resort of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) ongoing commitment to providing active and healthy pursuits for youth.
Check out the next generation of freeskiers! Competitors will display their skiing skills on natural terrain while being judged on 5 categories – Line Choice, Control, Fluidity, Technique and Style/Energy.

Golden, BC – Cultivating the freeski trend, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will hold the first IFSA Junior Freeski Series stop, on February 5-7. This event provides the opportunity for youth between the ages of 7 and 18 to develop and showcase their skiing skills in a fun and supportive environment.

REVITALIZED KIDS EXPERIENCE AT KICKING HORSE MOUNTAIN RESORT THIS WINTER
Golden, BC – Since opening in 2011 the Learning Centre at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has combined the Winter Sports School and the daycare, becoming a ski hub fostering a positive family environment. This season, the Learning Centre will offer a variety of family new and revitalized activities including Tubing on our new disco themed track, with the added lights and new location tubing will now be offered as a night activity as well as during the day. As well as Skating on the newly expanding rink (be sure to check the games on ice schedule for organized family fun) near the warming hut (and of course) a magic carpet and skills park for kids to practice perfecting those skiing/snowboarding skills early. Another new and exciting activity operating out of the resort this year will be daily kids snowmobile tours with the Rocky Mountain Riders. Golden, BC – Skiers and snowboarders favorite two words….EARLY OPENER! Strong and regular winter storms have dumped over 200 cm to date, making this one of the strongest opening storm cycles since resort inception. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be one of the first resorts in British Columbia to open and the first on the famed Powder Highway! Winter is kicked off in a big way!

OPENING DETAILS
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be opening early with two Preview Weekends, November 28th and 29th, and December 5th and 6th, with the full opening as scheduled on Friday December 11th. With top to bottom skiing (4,100 vertical feet, the highest in the Rockies), including terrain open in Crystal Bowl, Bowl Over, Mid Mountain and the Lower Mountain (we’re working to ensure the Kid’s World is open as well). Lifts open will be the Gondola, Stairway Chair, Catamount and the Magic Carpet. Services will include the Whitetooth Grill in the Daylodge, Eagles Eye, Retail, Rental, Guest Services and Winter Sports School.
