COVID-19 POLICIES & PROCEDURES

ALL RESORT GUESTS MUST MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING OF 2 METERS AT ALL TIMES and follow all public health and safety recommendations as set out by the Provincial Health Officer.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

NOTICE

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is excited to announce that we will be opening for summer operations on Friday, June 26, 2020!  While our operations will look different this summer, we are so happy to have the opportunity to welcome our summer outdoor enthusiasts to the mountain this summer.

Our team has been working hard this spring to develop a safe environment for our staff, our guests and our community.  Guided by the expertise and direction of various organizations, including WorkSafeBC, the Canada West Ski Areas Association and provincial and local health authorities, we have developed a comprehensive summer operations plan that addresses the complex and unprecedented COVID-19 situation. 

We appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation - “Be Kind, Be Calm, Be Safe.”

By booking and visiting Kicking Horse Mountain Resort you agree that you have read, understand and will adhere to the below outlined policies & procedures. Any guest that is found to be in contravention of these policies & procedures will be asked to leave the property and will lose visiting privileges for the foreseeable future. No refunds will be provided.

FOR THE SAFETY OF RESORT GUESTS AND OUR STAFF PLEASE DO NOT VISIT IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APPLY:

  • If you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing),
  • Live in a household with someone with COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19 or who is self isolating due to possible exposure to COVID-19
  • If you have travelled outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks or been in contact with anyone who has travelled outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks.

STAFF, HEALTH & SAFETY

All staff are required to

  • Complete daily health screening prior to starting every work shift.
  • Be trained and participate in all COVID-19 procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment, enhanced cleaning of work and public areas, and frequent hand washing/sanitizing.
  • Follow provincial health guidelines to maintain personal health and avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Health & Safety Across the Resort

  • Please follow instructions from our staff. They are here to make the experience a safe and enjoyable one for you.
  • All service counters will have plexi-glass barriers to separate guests and staff.
  • Staff will be wearing face shields or face masks if they are unable to keep social distance or are not behind plexi-glass barriers.
  • Credit or debit cards are preferred for payments. Tap is available for payments up to $250.
  • Please follow all instructional signage, including physical distancing markings and directional signage.
  • Our buildings will have a one-way flow of foot traffic to reduce interactions with other guests (where possible) and will have maximum guest capacities posted to ensure social distancing.
  • Please sanitize your hands prior to entering our buildings, including washrooms.  Hand sanitizer will be available by the entrances of all buildings
  • Our staff will be cleaning high touch surfaces frequently during the day, including payment terminals, after each use.

Parking

  • We have 3 large parking lots that all provide easy access to the base area.
  • Please leave at least 2m space between yours and other vehicles and practice physical distancing as soon as you get out.
  • We ask that no gathering or tail-gating takes place while visiting.
  • Overnight parking is not permitted in any parking lots or streets at the resort.

TICKETS & SEASON PASSES

  • To help minimize transmissions, we strongly recommend pre-purchasing your tickets, passes and activities online please visit the Plan & Purchase menu option for more.
  • Credit or debit cards are preferred for payments. Tap is available for payments up to $250.
  • If purchasing day tickets, please visit the outside ticket windows on the south side of the Daylodge facing the gondola.
  • If purchasing Season Passes, Mountain Bike Tickets or Via Ferrata Tours, please visit the Guest Services counter inside the Daylodge.
  • Follow all hygiene and physical distancing requirements as directed on site.
  • There will be a limit to 10 people maximum inside the Daylodge at any given time.

CHAIRLIFT OPERATIONS

  • Please ensure you present the barcode on your lift ticket or season pass to the scanner so they don’t have to touch it.
  • All lift staff will be wearing face masks and gloves for your and their protection.
  • We will be loading every 2nd gondola in order to sanitize it between each use.
  • You must only ride with family or travelling companions. Singles will ride alone.
  • You are required to use hand sanitizer before loading any lift.

GRIZZLY BEAR REFUGE

  • Tours at the Grizzly Bear Refuge will be available every hour from 10am to 3pm, excluding 1pm.
  • Masks are mandatory.
  • There will be a maximum of 49 people permitted on each tour so you must book your time in advance with Guest Services by calling 250-439-5425, in person at the Outside Ticket Window, or inside the Daylodge.
  • Please be ready to load the Catamount Chair 15-30min prior to your scheduled tour time.
  • While visiting the Grizzly Bear Refuge, you must practice physical distancing of at least 2m (6ft) and refrain from touching any shared surfaces.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

  • Eagle’s Eye restaurant will be open daily for lunch.
  • The restaurant will have a reduced capacity of 58 people.
  • Limited reservations are available daily. Please call 250-439-5413 to inquire.
  • Tables will be spaced 2m (6ft) apart and no groups more than 6 will be seated at the same table.
  • Staff will be wearing reusable masks while serving you.
  • When leaving the restaurant, please use the patio exit.
  • No outside alcoholic beverages are permitted on resort property as this would be a violation of our BC liquor laws.

WASHROOMS

  • Please use hand sanitizer prior to entering and exiting all washrooms.
  • Daylodge washrooms will be available with limited capacities.
  • Eagle’s Eye washrooms will be available with limited capacities.
  • For all washrooms, cleaning will be increased throughout the day but we ask all guests to please be considerate and use the wipes provided to clean any surfaces they have touched.

TRAILS - MOUNTAIN BIKING/HIKING

  • You must practice safe physical distancing while using the trails – at least 2m (6ft) apart while stationary or walking/hiking, 20m (60ft) apart while biking.
  • No handshakes, high fives, hugs unless you are riding with family or travelling companions.
  • Chill the Send – ride well within your ability level, dependent on the conditions.
  • Avoid gathering at intersections/junctions.
  • No tailgating in the parking lots at the end of the day.
  • Do not share water bottles or trail snacks.

VIA FERRATA

  • All equipment is sanitized after each use and left to dry overnight.
  • Must only climb with family or travelling companions.
  • No single tours available. Must have a group of 2 or more people for the tour to operate.
  • There will be sanitizing stations placed along the route to assist with hygiene.
  • No hugs, handshakes or high fives with your guide (but tips are nice and can be done by tap at Guest Services).

DISC GOLF

  • Our 18 hole Disc Golf Course is open for play this summer.
  • You can purchase discs at Kicking Horse Outfitters located at the base of the Catamount Chair.
  • The course map is available online click here to view.
  • Please do not touch the baskets as they are not sanitized. Gimme’s are encouraged!
  • While walking the course please ensure you maintain physical distance of at least 2m (6ft).

RENTALS & REPAIRS

  • Credit or debit cards are preferred for payments. Tap is available for payments up to $250.
  • Please refrain from touching anything inside the shop unless you plan on purchasing it. Instead, ask for assistance from staff to find out more about something.
  • There is a maximum of 8 people permitted in the store at one time.
  • You are required to use hand sanitizer before entering the store.
  • Use of a facemask is recommended.
  • All equipment is cleaned and sanitized after each use and left to dry overnight.

RETAIL

  • Credit or debit cards are preferred for payments. Tap is available for payments up to $250.
  • Please refrain from touching anything inside the shop unless you plan on purchasing it. Instead, ask for assistance from staff to find out more about what’s available.
  • There is a maximum of 6 people permitted in the store at one time.
  • You are required to use hand sanitizer before entering the store.
  • Use of a facemask is recommended.
