Free your heel, free your mind!
Want to ski like the first skiers? Join us for a short clinic or a full day of telemark skiing.
Learn this graceful and fluid form of skiing that originated in the 19th century on Norway’s Telemark plateau, where inventive skiers improved the binding system on Nordic skis for better downhill control.
These days telemark skiers use gear very similar to alpine skiers and challenge terrain just as aggressively. The only difference is that their heels are not locked to their skis allowing them to dip their knees in the characteristic Telemark turn.
FreeHeel Trails offers lessons in telemark skiing for all levels of ability from beginner to expert. Sign up for a private one or two-hour lesson or bring your friends for your own group clinic. Whether you want to master moguls or float through powder, former National Telemark Team member and certified instructor Paula Steinheber will show you how.
