The Golden Ultra

Presented by Trans Rockies, experience the best trails of the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges in Golden for three full days of amazing trail running. No matter your taste in running, the Golden Ultra has something for you.

The Golden Ultra is a three-day stage running race in Golden, BC.   The race features three stages: The Blood, The Sweat and The Tears.  Runners may participate solo in the stage race, as a relay team of three, or may register for any single stage individually. Only the first 2-days use the terrain at Kicking Horse

Friday, September 13

“The Blood” is the first stage of the Golden Ultra.  Known as a vertical kilometer, you’ll gain 1000m in less than 5 km of “running.”

The course has 2 starts: one at the bottom of the gondola at Kicking Horse Resort and the other from the top of Catamount. Runner for both will eventually merge together and run straight up show off and take CPR ridge to the finish line.

Full Pint stats:
Distance – 4.6 km (2.9 miles)
Elevation Gain – 1063 m (3489 ft)

Half Pint stats:
Distance – 2.9 km (1.8 miles)
Elevation Gain – 725 m (2381 ft)

Saturday, September 14

“The Sweat” is the second day of the Golden Ultra.  This is the queen stage where you will push your limits with the most vertical and the best single track.  You’ll be covering just under 60 km of distance in one giant loop.

The race course will go down the mountain coming from T2 to Gondie Top then running down bowl over and taking the 10 road down the rest of the way.

Full Pint Vital Statistics:
Distance – 59 km (37 miles)
Elevation Gain – 2322 m (7620 ft)

Half Pint Vital Statistics:
Distance – 30 km (19 miles)
Elevation Gain – 750 m (2461 ft)

Sunday, September 15

“The Tears”, the final day of the three day series. The weekend comes to a close with an enjoyable run in the Mountain Shadows trail network, offering a 23km and 13km run.

Full Pint stats:
Distance – 23.9km (14.9 miles)
Vertical – 750 m (2461 ft)

Half Pint stats:
Distance – 13.4 km (8.3 miles)
Vertical – 334 m (1097 ft)
