Whether you’re looking for adventure, good exercise or simply want to enjoy a little quiet solitude, snowshoeing fits the bill. Explore our free forested 2km and 4km loop trails just off the Palliser Trail road. This is a fun way for the whole family to experience the tranquility of the winter wilderness together. Snowshoe rentals are available at the Performance Rental Center.
In addition, you are invited to explore the snowshoe trails at the Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre. You will find a 4 km loop on the Beaver Pond trail, a mostly open trail with great views of the mountains which connects to another looping 2 km walk in the woods on the Ridgeline Trail. A third, more advanced trail, the Woodsman Trail should only be done by experienced snowshoe travellers equipped to spend the day out with: adequate food, clothing, lots of water, first aid kit and extra layers of clothing in your pack. The snowshoe trails intersect the cross-country skiing trails in a few places, to avoid impacting the ski trails, please cross in a single file and watch out for skiers. Enjoy!
Snowshoes can also be rented at the Dawn Mountain Chalet through Dawn Mountain Rentals.
Access the trails for only $10 per adult and $5 per youth (6-18), payable at the kiosk at the Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre trailhead. Please sign in at the kiosk. All snowshoe trips begin and end at the beautiful geothermal heated Chalet – a great place to return to after your outing for some hot chocolate or tea.
